Yankee Thespian Board
The All Directors Cast
It is often said that “those who can’t do teach.”  We here at the Yankee Thespian Festival want to prove this quote wrong!  And there is no better place to do so, while proving our talent, fearlessness, and ability to laugh at ourselves than the All Directors Cast.   This years show is a collection of short skits from “A Thurber Carnival”  - with scenes like “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” “File and Forget” “Gentlemen Shoppers.”   The ADC is a great way to connect with other directors from participating schools, while showing our students that we understand the excitement and openness that performing on stage brings to our lives.  So with all that said, get in touch with Cathy Archer -  Mechani@hotmail.com – let her know If there is someone local you can work on a scene with, or she can assign you someone or hey you can do a monologue!

                 Do a Marathon Play
Throughout the Yankee schedule we present a variety of One Act  plays and cuttings. One Acts are preferred over cuttings as they usually give the audience a better representation of your troupe, however, if you have just finished a full length show and wish to bring a scene from the show, by all means we’d love to see it.   We can usually accommodate twelve 20 to 25 minute plays.  There is a 10 minute set up time and 10 minute strike time limit.  In the past seven years we have always heard the #1 complaint about marathon is the one or two plays that go over time...so please don’t plan on bringing a piece that is going to test that limit.  The show should be a travel show.  Limited set, basic wash lighting, cd music/special fx, etc.
Shows are accepted on a first come, first paid basis, as we want to offer as much variety to our audience as we possible. We cannot give you a time slot without your paid registration for all students attending the festival.  Also,  PLEASE do not ask to bring an original script, or student directed show to marathon.  We will have a playworks section” for these shows.  Marathon slots are for already published scripts .   “We must have proof of royalty payments for the piece being presented.  If you are bringing a cutting from a full length show you have done, a copy of those royalty payments is sufficient.  If you are bringing a scene from a theatre text book, you must document what it is from,  any other show we will need proof of royalty payments before we can give your school a performance slot.  This is a necessity for the protection of the rights of the author, performers and festival trustees.
